1) President Inaugurated The 2nd International Ambedkar Conclave

  •   The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the 2nd International Ambedkar Conclave in New Delhi as part of the commemoration of Constitution Day.

  •   The Conclave is being organized by the Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians and the Dr. Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce.

2) Global Nutrition Report 2018
  • Around 150.8 million children are stunted in the world.
  • India has topped the list with around one-third of the world’s stunted children live in India, 46.6 million.
  • Nigeria with 13.9 million.
  • Pakistan with 10.7 million.
  •  Stunting is the impaired growth and development that children experience from poor nutrition, repeated infection, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. Children are defined as stunted if their height-for-age is more than two standard deviations below the WHO Child Growth Standards median.
3) NITI Aayog Organised Dialogue On Health System For New India
  •  NITI Aayog has begun a series of Development Dialogues to engage experts, thought leaders and government stakeholders across key avenues of long-term social and economic development. The first event was a conference on “Health Systems for A New India: Building Blocks”.

  •  The conference featured senior government functionaries and eminent national and international experts in the healthcare space.
4) 8 More States got 100% Household Electrification Under Saubhagya Scheme
  •  8 more States have got hundred percent household electrification under "Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana- Saubhagya". The states are Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana, and West Bengal.

  • 15 States now have 100 percent household electrification, according to Power Minister RK Singh. The government is hopeful of achieving the same for every household across the country by December-end. 
     5) EU Aims to Be First Carbon Neutral Economy By 2050
  •  The European Commission is the first major economy to set its sight on achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The EU’s climate chief, Miguel Arias Canete, cited a recent scientific report that warned of deadly consequences for many species on Earth from rising temperatures.

  • The European Union’s executive branch proposed that the bloc should cut its emissions of greenhouse gases to net zero by 2050, a measure scientists say needs to be adopted worldwide in order to avoid catastrophic global warming.
6) DAIC And JNU Sign MoU To Facilitate Research Activities & Policy Formulation
  •  Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), 15 Janpath, New Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate and enhance research activities and policy formulation aimed at Socio-economic Transformation and Sustainable Development.

  • The MoU was signed by Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of JNU and Shri Atul Dev Sarmah, Director of DAIC. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.

7) INDO-US Air Force To Conduct Joint Exercise 'Cope India 2019'
  •   Air forces of the United States and India are set to participate in a 12-day joint exercise 'Cope India 2019' at two air force stations in West Bengal. The exercise will be held from December 3 to 14, at Air Station Kalaikunda and Air Station Arjan Singh (Panagarh).

  •  The exercise showcases efforts and commitment of the two nations to a free and open Indo-Pacific region, a communique from the US Consulate said. The Cope India exercise is being held after a gap of eight years, with the last one having taken place in 2010.

8) India-China To Hold Joint Military Exercises ‘Hand in Hand’
  • The militaries of China and India, set to hold a joint 14-day drill ‘Hand in Hand’ in southwest China’s Chengdu city to improve their capabilities in fighting terrorism and promote mutual understanding.

  • Each side will send 100 troops to take part in the 7th India and China joint military exercises which will focus on counter-terrorism operations, Defence Ministry spokesman Col Ren Guoqiang stated in a media briefing.
9) Campaign Launched To Spread Pan-India Awareness About Hepatitis Disease
  • Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences has launched a campaign to spread a pan-India awareness about hepatitis disease. Empowering People Against Hepatitis: The EmpathyCampaign was launched at Metro Bhawan, New Delhi in presence of Managing Director of DMRC. Dr. Mangu Singh, and Director ILBS Shiv Kumar Sarin.

  •  The initiative will help generate awareness about Hepatitis B and C. About 60 millionpeople in the country are inflicted with Hepatitis virus infections which are responsible for liver cirrhosis and cancer.

10) 3rd Inclusive Wealth Report 2018 released by the UN Environment in Paris
  •  As per report, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Malta topped the chart of biennial survey of growth in the wealth of nations.

  •  44 of the 140 countries – more than a third – ranked in the report’s Inclusive Wealth Index have declined in inclusive wealth per head since 1998
11) Slovenia becomes only NATO country with female Army Chief
  • Slovenia became the first North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Country with the female Army Chief after appointment of Major General Alenka Ermenc to the post of Head of its Army.
12) 49th International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) Held In Goa
  •  The nine day long 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2018 concluded in PanajiGoa.

  • It showcased 217 films from over 68 countries.
  • The Festival opened with World Premiere of ‘The Aspern Papers’.
  • The Closing film of IFFI 2018 was World Premier of ‘Sealed Lips’.
  • Israel was the country of focus for the 49th edition of IFFI.
  • Jharkhand was selected as the State of Focus for 49th IFFI 2018

·       13) Pandit Keshav Ginde conferred with Pt. Bhimsen Joshi award
  • Renowned flautist Pandit Keshav Ginde has been selected as the recipient of 2018 Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Lifetime Achievement Award for Classical Music.

  •   In 1984, Pt. Ginde invented and played his creative innovation, the ‘Keshav Venu’ flute, a 42-inch long flute which can produce 3.5 octaves compared to the maximum 2.5 octaves by regular flutes. This unique flute has been preserved by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in its national archives.
14) Asia Pacific Screen Awards: Nawazuddin And Nandita Das Received Awards
  • Asia Pacific Screen Award (APSA) 2018 for Best Performance by an Actor (Male) went to Nawazuddin Siddiqui for Manto. Nandita Das, director of the movie herself received the prestigious International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) Award for achievement in film in the Asia Pacific region.

  •  The 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) were given out at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) in BrisbaneAustralia. The awards ceremony was hosted by Australian actress Sofie Formica and New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis.
15)  National Shooting Championship: Esha Singh Win 3 Gold Medals
  •  India's 13-year-old shooter Esha Singh won the Women's, Youth Women's and Junior Women's 10m Air Pistol competitions at the National Shooting Championship at Thiruvananthapuram.

  • She beat Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu to win three gold medals in women's air pistol events at the 62nd National Shooting Championships. The Telangana shooter prodigy shot 241.0 in the women’s final to leave behind Bhaker, who finished second with 238.9. Heena Sidhu finished 6th with a score of 154.9.
16) Shri Arvind Saxena appointed as Chairman, UPSC
  •  As per Article 316 of the Constitution,the President of India Ram Nath Kovind appointed Shri Arvind Saxena as Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) till 07. 08.2020, i.e., until he attains the age of 65 years.
17) A.M. Naik appointed as Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
  •  Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship appointed Shri A.M. Naik as Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
18) BCCI announces two-year ban for age fraud
  •   The BCCI conveyed that from the 2018-19 seasons, any cricketer who is found guilty of tampering his or her date of birth will be disqualified and barred from participating in any BCCI tournament for a period of 2 years i.e. 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

  • The BCCI had banned a Meghalaya-bound Delhi player, Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva,for producing a fake birth certificate to play in an Under-19 tournament earlier in September 2018.

  •    Earlier in 2016former India captain and India A coach Rahul Dravidhad recognised that age-fudging is a major problem in Indian cricket and welcomed BCCI’s decision to allow a player to compete in the U-19 World Cup only once.
19) Magnus Carlsen secured title of World Chess Champion
  •  Norway’s Magnus Carlsen retained his title as World Chess Champion beating US opponent Fabiano Caruana in a tie-breaker event at the World Chess Championship held in London on 28th November 2018.

  • Magnus Carlsen has won the Chess Championship thrice earlier. He had two match lead and he needs only a draw in the third tie-breaker to seal his victory.
20) One-Third of the World’s Stunted Children from India: Report
  •   India is facing a major malnutrition crisis as it holds almost a third of the world’s burden for growth inhibition, according to a global nutrition report. With 46.6 million children who are stunted, India tops the list of countries followed by Nigeria (13.9 million) and Pakistan (10.7 million). Stunting, or low height for age, is caused by long-term insufficient nutrient-intake and frequent infections.
  • India also accounted for 25.5 million children who are wasted, followed by Nigeria (3.4 million) and Indonesia (3.3 million). Wasting, or low weight for height, is a strong predictor of mortality among children under five. It is usually the result of acute significant food shortage and/or disease.
